P H E L A N: The Destination Purchase; Purchase for a Destination
P H E L A N re-defines modern footwear: for one luxurious sole, a multitude of interchangeable, covetable uppers to dress your feet. The unique design allows its wearer to choose and change effortlessly to match the many tastes, roles, and moods of the modern woman. Each handmade leather sole, while shaping itself to comfort the foot, welcomes countless possibilities for expression, from strappy summer sandal to glamorous, bejeweled design for evening. P H E L A N revels in transformation, rather like its wearer – a woman whose journey crosses beaches, towns, cities and the countryside; a woman at home in the everyday and unique celebrations; a woman exuding flair, comfort and poise wherever she goes.
"Sophisticated Traveler" claims the New York Times. "Perfect for the urban nomad," says The Journal of Montreal.
New York fashion designer Chris Ann Phelan created the artisanal line of sandals in 2008. "I want the wearer to enjoy the many facets of their shoes and the ease of switching from one upper to another," she says. The soles are manufactured in Mexico City, Mexico, where artists oversee each step of the manufacturing process. "How we manufacture and where we get a product are important parts of the equation for me," she says.
